Inchies are tiny works of art that can be used alone as charms or zipper pulls. They can also be used to make cards and book marks, but best of all, they can be added to small quilted pieces to make interesting wall hangings for any season of the year.
There will be a Christmas-themed kit provided so that participants can make a Christmas wall hanging with only basic supplies that most of us already have. If you prefer a different theme, bring some embellishments to fit the theme you wish to work with.
Day 1 We will make a set of inchies, finish the edges and then begin hand embellishments. I will demonstrate some of the hand embellishments I use and I will bring threads you can use with the embellishments in your kit.
Day 2 We will make a small quilt and add a wreath shape to it (or another preferred shape) to display our inchies.
Students should be familiar with their sewing machines. Stitching may be done with a machine that is capable of straight and zig-zag stitching, but knowing how to use a walking foot and a quilting foot will allow you more scope to play. This project is a great opportunity to use some of those decorative stitches on your machine.
