Layered, Collaged, Stitched, and Felted Collage within a Collage

September 14 – 16, 2018, 9 am to 4 pm

Textile Designer’s “Twist” on nuno felting

This workshop requires a working sewing machine and knowledge of free motion stitching.

We start by collaging wool and silk fabric scraps onto a prefelt and free motion stitch it into place. We then cut up the collage and collage it further onto a larger felted wrap or collar using some of the same fabrics (that wool can felt thru) in the layout. We also explore some of the same surface design techniques mentioned in the other class for the final felted piece.

This is a wonderful way to use novelty fabrics (sequins, glitz, heavier weight silks etc. that one cannot felt through) and put them onto your felt. Melissa used a variation of this technique for Collars for the Fashion Designer.

This is a 3-day class for 10 to 12 people with their own sewing machine and knowledge of free-motion stitching.

Registration fee of $30 will be charged. Epayments can be sent to the Treasurer.

Resist Shaped Nuno Felt:
Exploring the Possibilities of Unique Felted Textile Design
 September 18 - 20, 2018, 9 am to 4 pm

In this exciting and innovative 3 day workshop, we will explore some unique textile design ideas inherent to the combinations of pre-felt or nuno prefelt and stitched resist techniques. We will focus on designing a silk and wool layout  that explores the use of color and texture, and creating a nuno prefelt. This class is designed for the experienced felter who is interested in creating a unique felted textile for use on the body as a Wrap, Collar and/or Cuff  and/or as a dimensional accessory such as a Purse or Bag.

Finishing details, such as the “fabulous felted button” and the “irreverent” button hole will also be included.

Registration fee of $30 will be charged. Epayments can be sent to the Treasurer.
