About the event
Due to the popularity, this second workshop is being offered to FFAA Members and Member Guilds.
Learn the history Métis Beadwork and how to bead a heart with Métis artist Connie Kulhavy. Discover the significance of this unique art form and take home your own beaded heart representing your stories.
Connie Kulhavy is a Métis artisan, artist in residence, and educator. She is originally from Hay River, Northwest Territories, but now lives and works in Edmonton, Alberta. Connie uses traditional Metis art to tell stories through her Métis flower beadwork hearts.
The hearts represent stories that Connie has been told - some about weddings, others about burials, and many about the histories of the Métis people. She once created hearts for a family of seven, which replicated a design used by their Grandmother.
